Aileen A. Sidway

Aileen A. Sidway, 69, of 379 East St., Providence Court, died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 27, 1934, daughter of Dennis and Helen Broderick Murphy, she was a 1952 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. Primarily a homemaker, she had been employed by the former Berkshire Nursing Home in the dietary department for a short time. She also was employed as an assistant to the Leo Nesbit family. Mrs. Sidway was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and a former communicant of St. Mary's Church. She enjoyed walking, watching television, bowling, baking and cooking. She was an avid Red Sox fan. Her husband, Richard N. Sidway, whom she married Dec. 12, 1952, died June 10, 1990. She leaves two sons, Steven Sidway of Lanesboro and Thomas Sidway of Pittsfield; two daughters, Sharon Brown and Yolanda Sidway, both of Pittsfield, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Aileen A. Murphy, age 69, died Aug. 9, 2004. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at noon at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

I know its late, but I just wanted to say my grandmother was a humanitarian and a lover of cats. She was a fighter and after losing her youngest daughter and less than a year later losing her husband who apparently lost his pension right before he died serving many years for the city of Pittsfields" Sanitation department she had to fend for herself and take care of her deceased daughter's youngest child/baby she made the decision that I myself as a person couldn't make. She was lonely, loved to talk and loved her Werthers Original along with her green peppers and ranch dressing as well as her circus peanuts and making ham and cabbage. She loved watching soap operas and visiting with her sister. She had a humorous and sarcastic personality. She loved her youngest son Tommy and had a great respect for her oldest Steve.She would let you tell her a story but she would already know the real truth. She loved her whole family very much. I wish the best for her in the life after.
