JOHN FRANKLIN WALKER

John Franklin Walker, 54, of East Alford Road, West Stockbridge, died Saturday evening, December 16, 2000 at his home following a short illness. Born November 20, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Randall O. Walker, Jr. and Mary Moult Walker Wilcox. He graduated from Williams High School with the class of 1964 and from University of Connecticut in 1969, where he earned a bachelors degree in dairy science. Mr. Walker ran the family farm on East Alford Road from 1970 until 1976. He was currently employed by James E. Kimball, Jr. Oil Company as a service technician and truck driver. Prior to that he worked at Home Gas and Harland B. Foster. He was a parishioner of St. James Episcopal Church and was a former member of the Alford Card Club as well as the West Stockbridge Fire Department. He loved trains, especially building model railroads. Besides his mother of Alford, Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of thirty one years, the former Lynn Waldron, whom he married April 19, 1969 at St. Peter's Church in Great Barrington; two sons: Michael John Walker of North Providence, RI and Kevin Robert Walker of West Stockbridge, and a sister; Cathy Jean Walker of Alford. He is predeceased by a brother; Randall O. Walker, III, who died in 1972. A service of remembrance for Mr. John Franklin Walker will be conducted Friday, December 22, 2000 at 11:00 AM at the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home by Rev. Ray Wilson, priest-in-charge of St. James Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 21, 2000 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, Great Barrington. Contributions in Mr. Walker's memory may be made to either Hospice Care in the Berkshires or the the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
