Frank Abele Jr

Frank Abele Jr., 80, of Maple Avenue, formerly of 22 Ferncliff Ave., Lee, died Sunday at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Health Center, where he had resided for the past few years. Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 23, 1924, son of Frank Abele Sr. and Nellie Hoffen Abele, he was educated in Lee schools. He worked as a machine operator at Westfield River Paper Co. in East Lee for many years, retiring in the mid-1980s. As a young man, he worked for his father, who delivered ice in the Lee area. His first wife, the former Marion E. O'Brien, died Aug. 4, 1999. He and his wife, the former Marlene Wilson, were married in 2000. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Christine Engwer of Pembroke, N.H., and Debbie McKeever of Wareham; two sisters, Doris Clark of Lenox and Mildred Vranas of Boston, and five grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Frank Abele Jr. will be held Wednesday at 11 at First Congregational Church in Lee. Visiting hours will be today from 5 to 7 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make memorial donations to the Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center. He leaves his beloved grandchildren, Dennis, Mark, Michael, Aubrey and Bryant.
