William Barnum

William T. Barnum, 18, of 2 Town Road died Friday from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident early Friday morning. Born in Hudson on July 6, 1982, son of Crafton Barnum and Vallie Scraper Barnum Alger, he attended Taconic Hills School before moving to Sheffield, Mass., in 1991, where he attended Mount Everett Regional School. He moved to Stillwell, Okla., in 1999 and graduated from Stillwell High School in 2000. Mr. Barnum was employed as a janitor at Berkshire School. He enjoyed basketball, fishing and playing pool. Besides his father, of Sheffield, and his mother, of Stillwell, he leaves his stepmother, Kim Shortis Barnum of Sheffield; his stepfather, David Alger of Stillwell; three brothers, Paul Alger, Joshua Alger and Robert Alger, all of Stillwell; his paternal grandmother, Emma Barnum of Craryville, N.Y., and his maternal grandmother, Florence Hoffman of Hudson. Graveside Services will be Wednesday, May 2, at 11 at Elmwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles Van Ausdall officiating. The family will receive family and friends tomorrow, May 1, from 4 to 7 at HICKEY-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
