Margaret Mary Kelly

Margaret Mary Kelly, 93 of 44 Greene Ave., North Adams, MA, former longtime educator died Friday morning, April 27, 2001 at her home. She was born in North Adams, MA on December 30, 1907 a daughter of the late Owen Charles Kelly and Catherine Theresa (Boyd) Kelly. She attended schools in North Adams, MA, including the former St. Joseph Parochial School and graduated from the former St. Joseph’s High School with the class of 1925. She then graduated from the former North Adams Normal School in 1927. She also graduated from North Adams State College with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1942, and in 1949 she obtained her Master of Science in Education from North Adams State College which is now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA). She taught elementary school in Guilderland, New York for two years and Waterford, New York for 13 years. She returned to North Adams and taught elementary school at the former Brayton School and later at the Greylock School until her retirement in 1972, with more then 45 years of service to educating children. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of the Incarnation Church in North Adams, MA. She was a member of the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association and the Berkshire County Retired Teachers Assoc. She was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Church Rosary Society and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas, Court Margaret #296 in North Adams, MA. Survivors include several cousins including Mary Reynolds of Frederick, Maryland and her caregiver Gloria Gamache of North Adams, MA with whom she made her home with. Funeral services will take place Monday morning at 10: 15 A.M. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at Out Lady of Mercy Shrine in North Adams, MA. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams, MA. Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS,521 West Main St. North Adams, MA, are Sunday from 4-7 P.M. Memorial Donations are suggested for the Recording for the Blind through the Funeral Home.
