Madelyn R. Naylor

Madelyn R. Naylor, 51, of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., formerly of Great Barrington, died Oct. 15 of breast cancer. Born in Teaneck, N.J., on July 28, 1953, daughter of Peter and Dorothy Hauser Naylor, she was a 1971 graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School. She moved to Santa Fe in 1996. Ms. Naylor was a certified myotherapist and massage therapist, and a fitness instructor. She trained with myotherapy founder Bonnie Prudden in Stockbridge. She was a talented artist and photographer and held a private pilot's license. She also served on the board of directors of the Stuart Collection at the University of California at San Diego. She and her husband, Peter De Silva, were married in 1995; they had been together since 1975. Besides her husband and parents, of Great Barrington, she leaves a son, James Bodie De Silva, at home; six sisters, Barbara Duckwall and Mary Naylor, both of Naples, Fla., Dorothy Naylor of Paris, Anne Naylor and Elizabeth Naylor, both of Napa, Calif., and Claire Naylor-Pollart of Great Barrington; six brothers, Peter Naylor Jr. of Housatonic, Garrett Naylor of South Egremont, John Naylor of Portland, Maine, William Naylor of Northbend, Wash., Kevin Naylor of Great Barrington and Andrew Naylor of Sheffield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A celebration of the life of Madelyn R. Naylor, who died Oct. 15, 2004, will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, at noon at the home of her sister, Claire Naylor-Pollart, 105 Hurlburt Road, Great Barrington.
