Loren S. Estes

Loren Salem Estes, 74, of 592 Daniels Road died yesterday at Sweet Brook Health Care Center in Williamstown. Born in Williamstown on Sept. 28, 1926, son of Guy and Mattie Harris Estes, he attended schools there, including the former Williamstown High School. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Mr. Estes was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for more than 30 years, retiring in 1987. In his younger years, he was employed by several area farms and by the former Gaevert Mill in Williamstown for several years. He was a longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church and a member of the Sprague Electric Quarter Century Club. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and enjoyed bowling. His wife, the former Theresa Cook, whom he married Feb. 7, 1947, died March 14, 1992. He leaves several nieces and nephews. A Holy Eucharistic Service will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 at St. John's Episcopal Church in North Adams by the Rev. Donald Place, rector. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, will be tomorrow morning from 8 to 9:30. Memorial donations are suggested for a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. He was predeceased by three sisters and a brother, Thelma Lafave, Arlene Dorwin, Edna Dorwin and Guy Estes.
