Peter C. Betti

Peter C. Betti, 86, of Montvale Road, Gardner, a formerly of Pittsfield, died Thursday evening at Hayward Memorial Hospital in Gardner. Born in Pittsfield on April 6, 1918, son of Cleto and Teresa Vogliazzo Betti, he was a 1936 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mr. Betti was employed as a foreman in the power transformer division of GE, retiring in 1980. Prior to that, he had driven a cement-mixer for the former Lindholm Construction Co., was an auto mechanic for the former Berkshire Street Railway and had operated his own auto repair business for several years. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He enjoyed golfing and repairing small engines. He had spent winters in New Port Richey, Fla., for many years. His wife, the former Frances L. Magnone, whom he married March 30, 1940, in Mount Carmel Church, died Nov. 11, 1987. He leaves a daughter, Kathleen M. Pizzuto of Pittsfield; his companion of 15 years, Elizabeth Holt; two granddaughters, and two great-granddaughters. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Peter C. Betti, who died Nov. 25, 2004, will be Tuesday at 9:30 from ROCHE FUNERAL HOME in Lenox, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 in St. Mary's Church in Pittsfield by the Rev. Paul Bombardier, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. He is survived by his loving grandchildren, Tina Marie Hill and Gina Marie Harford, both of Pittsfield, his beloved great-grandchildren, Catarina and Ariana Harford, and his son-in-law, Paul P. Pizzuto of Pittsfield.
