Wanda Lee Hillard

Wanda Lee Hillard, 49, of 98 Barbour St. died Tuesday evening in the emergency room of North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was taken after being stricken earlier at home. Born in Bennington, Vt., on Oct. 28, 1955, daughter of Frederick J. and Mary M. Arnold Carey, she attended Bennington schools and later received her general equivalency degree. Mrs. Hillard was employed by the former Willowood Nursing Home, now North Adams Commons. She attended St. Francis' Church and was an active volunteer at the Berkshire Food Project at First Congregational Church. She enjoyed reading, country music and animals, especially cats. She and her husband, Gary F. Hillard, were married July 6, 1974. Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Christina A. Hillard of North Adams and Melissa L. Hillard of Pittsfield; six brothers, Timothy Carey, Frederick Carey, Curtis Carey and Theodore Carey, all of Bennington, Vt., Terry Carey of Pownal, Vt., and Walter Carey of Arlington, Vt.; seven sisters, Tammy Pinsonneault of Pownal, Annette Morse, Denise Carey, Jane Carey, Pamela Carey and Darlene Carey, all of Bennington, and Bonnie Pinsonneault of North Adams, and a grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Wanda Lee Carey Hillard will be Monday at 10 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME for FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 9 to 10 at the funeral home. Survivors include her grandson, Bryce Andrew Hillard of Pittsfield and nieces and nephews.
