Mary Patricia Coryat

Mary Patricia Coryat, 84, formerly of 716 High Street Hill Road, died Tuesday at Providence Care Center in Lenox, where she had resided for two years. Born in New York City on July 30, 1920, daughter of James and Elizabeth Fowler Greene, she attended schools there. She also graduated from Katharine Gibbs School. In 1972, she earned an associate degree in social services from Rockland Community College in New York. Mrs. Coryat was employed by the Department of Social Services in West Nyack, N.Y., where she lived for 45 years before moving to Windsor in 1995. Earlier, she worked at Standard Chartered Bank in New York. She was an active member of St. Anthony's Church in Nanuet, N.Y., including its Blessed Mother Sodality and Catholic Charities. She was also a 4-H Club and Girl Scout leader. Her husband, Thomas E. Coryat, whom she married in April 1946, died Oct. 29, 1981. She leaves two sons, Christopher Coryat of Oneonta, N.Y., and Thomas Coryat of Newtown, Conn.; two daughters, Valerie Coryat Kohn of Windsor and Joan Coryat of Williamsburg, and six grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Friends may call today, Monday, from 10 to 11:30 at Family Owned and Operated JOSEPH W. SORCE FUNERAL HOME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon at St. Anthony's Church, 34 West Nyack Road, Nanuet, N.Y. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, 369 South St., Pittsfield, MA 01201 or to the Alzheimer's Association. Mrs. Coryat also leaves her grandchildren, Ethan Kohn, Benjamin Kohn, Erin Coryat, Kaitlen Coryat, Michael Coryat and Corinne Coryat.
