Marjorie Lois Griggs

Marjorie Lois Griggs, 82, of 480 River Road, died yesterday at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Hospital in Clinton. Born in North Adams on Oct. 10, 1922, daughter of Lawrence and Violet Moore Eddy, she was raised in Clarksburg and graduated from Drury High School in North Adams in 1940. Mrs. Griggs was employed as a secretary at St. John's Episcopal Church in North Adams for 20 years. Prior to that, she had worked for several years at the former Parker Machine Co., also in North Adams, and at the former Strong-Hewat Woolen Mill until it closed. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and its Guild, and was interested in genealogy. She and her husband, Carl R. Griggs Jr., were married Aug. 10, 1946. Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Ellen B. Ramocki of Warwick, R.I., and Leigh J. Griggs of Shrewsbury; a brother, Robert Eddy of North Fort Myers, Fla., and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Funeral Mass for Marjorie L. Griggs, who died Jan. 12, 2005, will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 15, at 10 at St. John's Episcopal Church by the Rev. Edward A. King, rector. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, will be Friday from 2 to 4. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247. She also leaves two sons-in-law, Stephen Ramocki of Warwick, R.I., and Chester Olson of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren, Melissa B. Ramocki, Eric S. Ramocki, David A. Ramocki and Andrew S. Ramocki, and several nieces and nephews.
