Michael Trisorio

Michael Trisorio, 96, of Apt. A-7, St. Joseph's Court, died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Cannoza di Puglia, province of Bari, Italy, on Feb. 19, 1908, son of Matteo L. and Francesca Caccavo Trisorio, he attended schools in Italy and learned the barber trade, apprenticing at age 5 and becoming a registered barber by age 13. He immigrated to the United States in 1920 and attended North Adams schools. During World War II, he was a member of the Ground Observer Corps, established by the Army Air Forces to watch for enemy aircraft. He had a record of more than 250 hours of service. He also served with the Massachusetts National Guard in North Adams. Mr. Trisorio established Mike Trisorio's Barber Shop in North Adams and later worked out of his home at 634 West Cross Road in Clarksburg for more than 75 years. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church, where he served as an usher for many years. He was a past exalted ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 487 and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Sons of Italy. His first wife, Carmela Ponzillo, whom he married April 15, 1928, died July 10, 1965. His wife, Amelia S. Salvatore, whom he married Jan. 2, 1967, in St. Anthony's Church, died Oct. 7, 1998. He leaves a daughter, Francesca "Frances" Trisorio of North Easton and a granddaughter. Another daughter, Antoinette Shirley LaBonte, died Nov. 14, 1975. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Michael Trisorio, who died Jan. 15, 2005, will be Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 9:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 64 Marshall St., North Adams, by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, Jan. 17, from 3 to 6. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for St. Anthony's Church through the funeral home. Survivors include his granddaughter, Michele LaBonte Strilish and her husband, Daniel, and his son-in-law, Edward "Guy" LaBonte. He was predeceased by his daughter, Antoinette LaBonte, RN; two sisters, Jennie Petrovice and Antoinette Rosse, and a brother, Sabino Edward "Soap" Trisorio.
