Muriel L. Kushi

Muriel L. Kushi, 85, of 74 Maryland Ave. died Monday at home. Born in St. Francis, Ontario, Canada, on Dec. 22, 1915, daughter of James and Mary Terresen Donnell, she graduated from London Coulebet High School in London, Ontario. She had resided in Dalton and Great Barrington before moving to Pittsfield 39 years ago. Mrs. Kushi was employed as a secretary at Searles High School in Great Barrington for five years. She was also employed as a legal secretary for several local law firms. Her husband, Thomas F. Kushi, whom she married in 1964, died Oct. 16, 1975. She leaves a son, Harry Sterne of Ontario, Canada; three stepsons, Thomas Kushi, Timothy Kushi and Kevin Kushi, all of Pittsfield; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Chiorgno of Pittsfield; three sisters, Anne Hossack of Hamilton, Canada, Jackie Collins of Toronto and Helen Christie of Brantford, Canada, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, May 11, at 6 p.m. in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, with a Service of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. David J. DeSmith, rector. There are no calling hours at DWYER FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, in her memory.
