Nora J. Goudey

Nora Josephine "Grandma" Goudey, 95, a longtime former resident of Heaton Court, died yesterday at her son's home in Hartsville. Born in Elphin, County Roscommon, Ireland, on April 29, 1906, daughter of John and Helen Carney O'Hara, she graduated from high school there. She resided in Tyringham for a few years before moving to Pine Street in Stockbridge in 1940 and to Heaton Court in the 1970s. She had resided with her son, John, in Hartsville, since last year. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Stockbridge. She enjoyed reading and had knitted for the Berkshire Guild. Her husband, Thomas P. Goudey Sr., whom she married Nov. 29, 1934, at St. Ann's Church in Lenox, died Nov. 18, 1971. She leaves three sons, John J. Goudey of New Marlboro, Thomas P. Goudey Jr. of Junction City, Kan., and Donald F. Goudey of Stockbridge; a daughter, Maureen A. Anquiano of Carlsbad, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be from FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, Great Barrington, at 9:15, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m., on Saturday, May 12, at St. Joseph's Church, Stockbridge, with the Rev. Steven McQuigan, pastor, as celebrant. The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. on Friday, May 11, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stockbridge Library or to the New Marlboro Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad in care of the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
