Helen Louise Bowen Straleau

Helen Louise Bowen Straleau, 97, formerly of Main St., died Thursday at Noble Horizons in Salisbury, Conn., where she had been a resident for the past several years. Born in Ashley Falls on Sept. 12, 1907, daughter of Albert C. and Emma L Roberts Bowen, she attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Sheffield High School. Mrs. Straleau was employed for 20 years in the accounting department of Connecticut Power Company in Canaan. She was a member of the Old Parish Church. Her husband, William A. Straleau, whom she married Jan. 9, 1932, died July 4, 1989. She leaves two nephews, Harold K. Agar of Palm City, Fla., and Donald A. Agar of Pittsfield, and six nieces, Barbara Gilmore of Rocky Hill, Conn., Janey Ryan of Deland, Fla., Jean Shuts of Sheffield, Hope Swanson of Ashley Falls, Laura S. Becker of Lynnfield and Rosemary King of Worcester. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mrs. Helen Louise Bowen Straleau, formerly of Sheffield, died Thursday. Helen married William A. Straleau on Jan. 9, 1932, and they lived in the same house on Main Street their entire marriage. Mr. Straleau died on July 4, 1989. She was predeceased by her brother, Irving Bowen, and sisters, Ethel Donsbough, Alice Collins Hess, Gladys Payman and Margaret Agar. Private services will be held Monday at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington. There will be no public calling hours.
