Martha L. Buffoni, 80, of 44 Murray Lane died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Dalton on Dec. 17, 1924, daughter of Edward A. and Etta I. Fuller Murray, she moved to South Lee as a child and was educated there. She moved to Becket in 1937, and attended Chester High School. She later resided in Lee, and returned to Becket in 2003. Mrs. Buffoni had last worked as a manager of Hyde Place in Lee, retiring in 2003. In the 1940s and â€˜50s, she worked at various mills in the area and at GE in Pittsfield. From the early 1960s until 1977, she owned and operated the 4 B's Restaurant in Becket. She moved to Agawam in 1977 and managed the Heritage Village Condos and the North Field Commons until 1983, when she moved to Florida and managed the Sea Vista Motel in New Smyrna Beach. She and her husband, Raymond "Freckles" Buffoni, were married March 7, 1976. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, David C. Boosma Sr. of Becket; a sister, Helen I. Naventi of Lee, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Another son, John E. Boosma, died Jan. 2, 1983. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Martha L. Buffoni died Jan. 30, 2005. Martha leaves her loving grandchildren, Lisa N., David Jr. and Derek. She also leaves her grandchildren, Ryan, Dana, Nicholas, Makayla, Dylan and Brandon and her devoted daughter-in-law Johanne. She was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters. A graveside service will be held in the spring at North Becket Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. KELLY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
