Ralph W. Zimmerman Sr., 85, of Yonkers, N.Y., died Wednesday in Yonkers. He was the father of Ronald G. Zimmerman of Richmond. Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Aug. 23, 1915, he was the son of William and Ida Zimmerman. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran. Mr. Zimmerman was a master mechanic. He owned and operated Ralph's Auto Service in Yonkers for more than 35 years. He was a life member and officer of the Washington Irving Boat Club in Tarrytown, N.Y. He enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. His wife of 60 years, Anne, died April 3, 2001. Besides his son, he leaves three sons, Ralph Zimmerman Jr. of Wappinger Falls, N.Y., Richard Zimmerman of Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., and Raymond Zimmerman of Westerly, R.I.; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Roy Zimmerman. He was a man of his word and always followed through. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Reposing at FLYNN MEMORIAL HOME, 1652 Central Park Ave., Yonkers, N.Y., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Science Reading will take place at the funeral home Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Yonkers.
