Jane Louise Rice, 70, of 1635 Hewins St., Ashley Falls, died Saturday at Fairview Hospital. Born in Great Barrington on Oct. 10, 1934, daughter of Frank M. and Bertha Kittle Franklin, she was a graduate of the former Sheffield High School. Mrs. Rice was a homemaker. Her husband, William R. Rice, whom she married June 14, 1959, in Ashley Falls, died May 11, 2004. She leaves a son, William F. Rice of Ashley Falls; two daughters, Kim Rice of Ashley Falls and Terry Montgomery of Canaan, Conn.; a brother, Fred Franklin of Great Barrington; a sister, Gladys Grady of Ashley Falls, and a grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A celebration of life service for Jane Louise Rice, who died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, will be held Thursday, Feb. 17, with family receiving friends from 2 to 4 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. Expressions of sympathy in Jane's memory may be made to the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad, in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Mrs. Rice leaves a grandson, Cory William Rice.
