Rita T. Czaja

Rita T. Czaja, 76, of 13 Crotteau St. died Friday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Adams on Jan. 27, 1929, daughter of Eli and Emma Sawyer Caron, she attended Adams schools. A nurse's aide, Mrs. Czaja was employed by Berkshire Textiles and by North Adams Regional Hospital, retiring in 1965 because of ill health. She was a communicant of the parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas. A birder, she recorded their migrations. She also enjoyed gardening, ceramics, culinary arts and sewing. Her husband, Thaddeuz S. Czaja, whom she married Nov. 24, 1947, died Jan. 13, 1983. She leaves a daughter, Cherylene T. Czaja of Adams, with whom she resided; a sister, Jeanette Caron of Lanesboro, and a grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Rita T. Czaja will be conducted Monday, Feb. 14, at 4 from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, by the Rev. Robert R. Moulton, permanent deacon of the parishes of Notre Dame, St. Thomas and St. Stanislaus in Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be from 3 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mazon, of 1990 South Bundy Drive, Suite 260, Los Angeles, CA 90025, an organization that feeds the hungry. Mrs. Czaja leaves a grandson, William T. Hillard of Adams, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Paul Caron Sr. and Lawrence Caron; and by two sisters, Lorraine Caron and Rachel Baron.
