John D. Cahill

John D. Cahill, 84, of 19 Pleasant View Drive died Saturday morning at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 12, 1920, son of John E. and Sarah Duffy Cahill, he was a 1938 graduate of Pittsfield High School. An Army Air Force veteran of World War II, he served as an airplane mechanic in the European theater. Mr. Cahill was employed as a winder in the power transformer department at GE, retiring in 1983 after 37 years of service. He was a member of the GE Pensioners' and Quarter Century clubs. He and his wife, the former Bernice Biron, were married June 13, 1945, in South Congregational Church. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Donna J. Cahill and Jacqueline A. Cahill, both of Pittsfield; a sister, Mary C. Cahill of Pittsfield, and a brother, Paul V. Cahill of Walden, N.Y. FUNERAL NOTICE -- John D. Cahill died in Pittsfield on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005. Services will be conducted Wednesday, March 2, at 11 at DWYER FUNERAL HOME by Carolyn Peck, pastoral assistant. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Street Cemetery in Dalton. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Tuesday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, or to the Berkshire Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home.
