Therese Loretta Barrett Lewis, 64, of 50 Mowhawk Forest Blvd., died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams on April 15, 1940, daughter of Wilfred J. and Rose D. Bachand Champagne, she was a graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School. She resided in California before returning to North Adams several years ago. Mrs. Lewis was employed by Big Y Supermarkets in its Northampton and North Adams stores, retiring several years ago. She also had worked at the Naval Petroleum Reserve in Valley Acres, Calif., and for the Buena Vista (Calif.) Parks and Recreation District. She was a longtime communicant of Notre Dame Church. She enjoyed playing bingo. She leaves two sons, Vincent R. Barrett of North Adams and John W. Barrett of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; five grandchildren, and her former husband, Jack Lewis of Taft, Calif. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Therese Barrett Lewis, who died March 5, 2005, will be held Tuesday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams. Burial will be at a later date in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be from 5 to 7 Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams, through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., 01247. She also leaves several aunts, uncles and cousins. A brother, Wilfred J. Champagne, and a sister, Mary Champagne, are deceased.
