Francis Eugene Messina

Francis Eugene Messina, 53, of 75 Commercial St. died Wednesday at home, following a short illness. Born in North Adams on Jan. 15, 1952, son of Francis Joseph and Mary V. MacTavish Messina, he attended schools in Adams and McCann Technical High School in North Adams. Mr. Messina was last employed at Goodwill Industries in their Pittsfield and Adams offices. He had also worked for the former Brightwater Paper Co. in Adams for 18 years. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Stanislaus Kostka in Adams. He enjoyed playing the harmonica and swimming. He leaves three sisters, Mary Lawson Bisson of Prescott, Ariz., and Elizabeth Ann McAllister of Tucson, Ariz., and Christine D. Holland of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Francis Messina will be celebrated Monday, March 28, 2005, at 10 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Stanislaus Kostka. Burial in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. Survivors include his close friend, Jeannette Anderson of Adams; eight nieces and nephews; two grandnephews, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
