William Francis Cozzaglio

William Francis Cozzaglio, 76, of 150 Ashland St. died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where he was admitted Sunday following a short illness. Born in North Adams on Sept. 10, 1928, son of Michael D. and Maria Rosina Cozzaglio, he attended local schools. A Navy veteran, he enlisted March 20, 1946, and served as a seaman, second class on the USS Washington and USS Mercer. He was honorably discharged Jan. 20, 1948. Mr. Cozzaglio was employed for more than 38 years by Brightwater Paper Co. in Adams and its successors, the former Rochester and James River paper companies, retiring in 1994. He first worked in the Greylock Division of the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a former member of Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 VFW and Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion. His first wife, the former Jeannette Rose Lanoue, whom he married April 22, 1950, died April 5, 1979. His second wife, the former Lorraine Helen Rougeau Lamoureaux, whom he married Dec. 2, 1982, died Aug. 25, 1995. He leaves his wife, the former Nancy C. Wright Scalise whom he married June 3, 2000, in Adams. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, North Adams Police Director Michael P. Cozzaglio of North Adams and James T. Cozzaglio Victorville, Calif.; a sister, Jennie Strange of North Adams, four grandchildren, seven stepchildren, Dale Scalise Smith of New Hartford, N.Y., Michael James Scalise of Wilmington, Arthur Richard Scalise of Upton, James Joseph Scalise Jr. of Lanesboro, Marco Anthony Scalise of Clearwater, Fla., Raymond A. Lamoureaux of Sarasota, Fla., and Paula C. Crea of Pittsfield, 12 stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren. Another son, William F. Cozzaglio Jr., died Feb. 12, 1972. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for William F. Cozzaglio, who died March 29, 2005, will take place Friday, April 1, at 9:45 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church by the Rev Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, March 31, from 4 to 7. Donations may be made to the St. Anthony's Capital Campaign Fund through the funeral home. Survivors include daughters-in-law Gail Ghidotti Cozzaglio and Debra Haigh Cozzaglio; grandchildren Kara M. Cozzaglio, Amy J. Cozzaglio, Amanda J. Cozzaglio and Christopher W. Nagle; brother-in-law Jay Strange, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Battista Anthony "Gino" Cozzaglio on Nov. 22, 1989, and infant Battista Cozzaglio on June 9, 1927.
