Clara Jane Burgmaster

Clara Jane Burgmaster, 77, of Roaring Brook Road died yesterday at home. Born in Williamstown on Jan. 14, 1928, daughter of Walter and Bernice Hughes Nicklien, she was educated there. Mrs. Burgmaster had been employed at several area motels, including the New Ashford Inn and the Mill and the Floss, and had worked for the Vanderbilt family. She also helped her son, Frank Glen Burgmaster, on Fridays at his Starr Mart on North Street in Pittsfield. Her husband, Frank George Burgmaster, whom she married June 12, 1948, died July 22, 2000. Besides her son, of Williamstown, she leaves two daughters, Linda Alma Hartman and Ilene Bernice Bump, both of Williamstown; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Clara Burgmaster, who died April 5, 2005, will be conducted Friday, April 8, at 11 from Second Congregational Church of South Williamstown by the Rev. Penny Rich Smith. Friends may call at GEORGE M. HOPKINS FUNERAL HOME tomorrow, April 7, from 6 to 8. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Clara may be made to the Massachusetts Diabetes Association through the funeral home, 61-67 Spring St. Williamstown, MA 01267. Her home, family and animals were her main interest. She was predeceased by three brothers, Walter, Ernest and Arthur Nicklien.
