Burton Ford Dopp

Burton Ford Dopp, 81, formerlyof 75 Commercial St., died Monday in the emergency room at North Adams Regional Hospital after being stricken earlier in the day. He had been residing at North Adams Commons. Born in Roxbury, Vt., on June 29, 1923, son of Howard and Helen Woolly Dopp, he attended schools in Northfield, Vt. He came to North Berkshire about 30 years ago. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. A truck driver, Mr. Dopp was last employed by Allied Van Lines. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His wife, the former Lena Marciana, whom he married June 2, 1952, in Brooklyn, N.Y., died March 19, 2003. He leaves two daughters, Margaret L. Pettus of Spotsylvania, Va., and Lucille L. Bruso of Pownal, Vt.; a sister, Leone Bell of Northfield, and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Burton Dopp, who died April 4, 2005, will be conducted Friday, April 8, at 2 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, by the Rev. Jill Graham, pastor of First Congregational Church in North Adams. Burial will be at a later date in Northfield, Vt. Survivors include sons-in-law Rick Pettus and William Bruso and grandchildren Brittany and Richard Pettus. A brother and two sisters are deceased: Merland Dopp, Dorothy Bashaw and Arlene Bryant.
