Alice Reddington

Alice Julie Reddington, 81, of Lakeside, Calif., formerly of Pittsfield, died May 11 at San Diego Hospice in San Diego, where she had resided for six days. Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 20, 1920, daughter of Joseph and Alice Belanger Martineau, she was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and received her licensed practical nurse degree from Pittsfield General Hospital, now Berkshire Medical Center. She moved to California in 1988. Mrs. Reddington was a licensed practical nurse at Pittsfield General Hospitalfor 25 years, retiring in 1975. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church in Pittsfield. An avid golfer, she was a member of Wahconah Country Club in Dalton, and enjoyed traveling. She and her husband, Charles James Reddington, were married on May 22, 1942. Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Kathleen Nancy Daniels of Norwich, Conn., and Cheryl Anne Mattas of El Cajon, Calif.; a son, Charles James Reddington Jr. of Cheshire; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be Friday, May 25, at 2:30 in Singing Hills Cemetery in Lakeside, Calif. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to San Diego Hospice, 4311 3rd Avenue, San Diego, CA 92103. She is survived by a cousin, Jane Perraultof Pittsfield.
