John Joseph Grover Sr.

John Joseph Grover Sr., 71, of 250 Mohawk Forest Blvd. died Thursday afternoon at home. Born in Bennington, Vt., on Jan. 17, 1934, son of Clifford and Gertrude Terry Grover, he attended schools there. He had lived in North Adams for 25 years. He served with the Army from 1955 to 1957. Mr. Grover was a farmer for most of his life, last working at the Janowycz farm in Cheshire before retiring several years ago. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the Loyal Order of Moose in Bennington, Vt. He and his wife, the former Florence E. Anschutz, were married April 14, 1985. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, John Grover Jr. of North Adams and Wayne E. Grover of Troy, N.Y.; four daughters, Brenda L. Grover of Olean, N.Y., Melissa A. Grover of Adams, Joyce F. Grover of North Adams and Laurie J. Grover of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; three stepsons, Lawrence A. Miller Jr. and James M. Miller, both of North Adams, and John E. Miller of Bridgewater; a stepdaughter, Tammy M. Miller of North Adams; four brothers, Joseph Grover and Bernard Grover, both of Bennington, Vt., Lawrence Grover of Buskirk, N.Y., and Michael Grover of Wilmington, S.C.; four sisters, Linda Sweet of Bennington, Vt., Mildred Rabidoux of Berwick, Maine, Agnes Totherow of Fort Mill, S.C., and Marie Hall of Deep River, Conn.; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Rolnick, in 1992. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for John J. Grover Sr. will be Monday, April 11, at 4 in the AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Monday from 2 until the service. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
