Gerald F. Goerlach Jr.

Gerald F. Goerlach Jr., 76, of 24 Glass Works Road, Berkshire, died Sunday morning at Springside of Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 20, 1928, son of Gerald F. Goerlach Sr. and Eva Fowler Goerlach, he was a 1947 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He had lived in Berkshire village for 44 years. An Army veteran, he served in Korea and Japan. Mr. Goerlach was employed as an expediter by the former Jones-Beloit Corp., retiring in 1995 after 39 years of service. He also worked at GE and in the GE Naval Ordnance division for four years. He was a member of Pilgrim Memorial Church, where he was a deacon and chairman of the ushers for eight years. He and his wife, the former Phyllis Cleveland, were married Jan. 31, 1948. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Gary F. Goerlach of Great Barrington and Gregg S. Goerlach of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Gerald F. Goerlach Jr. died in Pittsfield on Sunday, April 24, 2005. He was the loving father-in-law to Debbi Decker-Goerlach. The funeral will be conducted Saturday, May 7, at 2 at Pilgrim Memorial Church by the Rev. Cory Loder, pastor. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery with full military honors. Family and friends are invited to the church beginning at 1 on Saturday, May 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pilgrim Memorial Church Fuel Fund or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of DWYER FUNERAL HOME. He also leaves his uncle, Raymond Goerlach of Lanesboro, and several nieces and nephews.
