Alfio Vincent Girgenti

Alfio Vincent Girgenti, 54, of 6 Donald Ave., a longtime local contractor and businessman, died early Sunday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital, where he was admitted Saturday. Born in North Adams on Dec. 8, 1950, son of Alfio and Mary Zappone Girgenti, he attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School. He served two years in the Massachusetts National Guard. Mr. Girgenti was a self-employed building contractor and an accomplished carpenter and stonemason. For the past 19 years, he was part owner of Rascal's Lounge on North Summer Street. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and a guitarist for many years with the former band Paraffin. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and bowling. He and his wife, the former Christine Ordyna, were married May 8, 1976. Besides his wife and parents, of North Adams, he leaves a son, Aaron Girgenti of Adams; two daughters, Alicia Girgenti and Ashley Girgenti, both of Adams, and a sister, Joan Smith of North Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Alfio V. Girgenti, who died May 8, 2005, will be tomorrow, May 11, at 9 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parishes of St. Stanislaus Kostka and Notre Dame-St. Thomas Aquinas. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home. Mr. Girgenti also leaves two nieces, Kim Burdick of North Adams and Aimee Zeoli of Sunderland; his father- and mother-in-law, Joseph and Mildred Duda Ordyna of Adams; grandnieces; grandnephews, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
