Janet Marie Patrie

Janet Marie Patrie, 68, of 78 College Ave., died Sunday evening at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, Vt. Born in North Adams on Feb. 11, 1937, daughter of Alphonse Leo and Amelia Mary Dami Patrie, she was educated in North Adams schools and graduated from the former North Adams State College with the class of 1959. She completed her master's degree at Our Lady of the Elms College in Chicopee in 1967. Miss Patrie began her teaching career in the Cheshire Elementary School and later taught at Mark Hopkins School in North Adams from 1968 to 1983. She also taught at the Gabriel Abbott School in the town of Florida. She also worked as an admissions counselor at the former North Adams State College. A communicant of Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church in North Adams, she also enjoyed traveling. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Janet Patrie will be celebrated Saturday morning, May 21, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor. Burial will follow in the family lot in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, are Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30. Donations to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home. Survivors include several cousins including her primary caregivers, Donna Moore and Marilyn Cimonetti of Clarksburg. A twin brother, Richard, died at birth and her sister, Marguerite Pedercini, is deceased. She devoted her life to the education of children and she was an animal lover.
