Alice Mary Cichy

Alice Mary Cichy, 77, of 10 Jordan St. died early Wednesday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Adams on May 9, 1928, daughter of Peter and Maria Tomaszewski Biros, she attended schools there. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Biros first worked for several years at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates. She later returned to work part time at Pedrin's Dairy Bar in North Adams and at the former Coffee Time Vending Co. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church. She enjoyed baking, cake decorating, sewing and trips to Mohegan Sun casino. She also cared for many abandoned and homeless animals. Her husband, Francis C. Cichy, whom she married June 7, 1948, died July 29, 1994. She leaves three daughters, Cynthia Lanoue of North Adams, Mary Krutiak of Clarksburg and Dr. Anne Poirot of Drury; a son, Francis Cichy of Clay, N.Y.; six brothers, John Biros, Theodore Biros, Edwin Biros, Joseph Biros, Edward Biros and Richard Biros, all of Adams; two sisters, Gladys Czubryt and Cecelia Michalenko, both of Adams; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Alice Mary Cichy will be Saturday at 10 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parishes of St. Stanislaus Kostka and Notre Dame-St. Thomas Aquinas. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society through the funeral home. Christopher, Colleen, Joseph and Kathleen Cichy, and Amanda and Daniel Krutiak; three great-grandchildren, Brodie, Jovan and Isaiah Cichy. She was predeceased by a sister, Jane Armata, and by three brothers, Francis, Stanley and Albin Biros.
