Vincent E. Welch

Vincent E. Welch, 82, of 68 Chickering St. died Tuesday at home. Born in Great Barrington on March 13, 1919, son of Patrick and Anna Geraghty Welch, he was a 1937 graduate of the former Searles High School. During World War II, he served with the Navy and Merchant Marines in both Europe and Asia. A television charactor actor for many years, he appeared in daytime shows, including ABC's "All My Children" in the 1970s. He had also worked for the Allied Purchasing Co. and was employed with the Shubert Theater Organization in New York City. He was a member of Actors Equity, AFTRA and the Screen Actors Guild. Mr. Welch lived in New York City from 1946 until moving to Pittsfield in 1998. He leaves a niece, Mary Ann Welch of Pittsfield, with whom he made his home. The funeral will be Friday at 10 in St. Peter's Church, Great Barrington. The Rev. William H. Wallis, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Calling hours at HICKEY-ROY FUNERAL HOME will be Friday from 9 to 9:45. Donations may be made to St. Peter's Church Ramp Fund.
