Frances Helena Ordyna

Frances Helena Ordyna, 87, of 23 Powers St. died Friday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted June 7. Born in Cheshire on June 7, 1918, daughter of Leo and Helena Cleary Ryan, she attended schools there and in Adams, including the former Adams High School. Mrs. Ordyna was employed by GE in the aerospace program for about 15 years, retiring in 1988. She first worked for the former Adams Fine Spinning Associates, then the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams and the Cornish Wire Co. in Williamstown. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and St. Stanislaus. She was a former member of the St. Thomas Rosary Sodality and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed reading, sewing and traveling. Her husband, Theodore M. "Whitey" Ordyna, whom she married Oct. 7, 1939, died Feb. 28, 1977. She leaves a daughter, Mary Ann Merlini of Adams, with whom she made her home; two sisters, Eileen Belanger of Clarksburg and Mary Tondreau of Washingtonville, N.Y.; a brother, Timothy J. Ryan of Stephentown, N.Y.; two granddaughters, and two great-grandsons. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Frances Ryan Ordyna will be celebrated Monday, June 20, 2005, at 12:10 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Adams by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Stanislaus Kostka. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will be Monday from 9:30 to 11 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. The omission of flowers is requested. Donations may be made for Masses in her memory in care of the funeral home. Survivors include a son-in-law, Donald Merlini; two granddaughters, Ann Merlini Feivou and her husband, Jack, of Orlando, Fla., and Dawn Anne Merlini of Pittsburgh; and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Zachary Feivou, and several nieces and nephews. Four brothers and a sister are deceased, Charles, Robert and William Ryan, and Leo Ryan Jr., and Doris Eichorn.
