M.M. Ellsworth-Durant

Margaret M. "Peggy" Ellsworth-Durant, 60, of 202 Dewey Ave. died Wednesday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield because of complications from surgery. Born in Pittsfield on March 27, 1941, daughter of Mary Londergan Ellsworth and the late Elmer C. Ellsworth, she was a 1959 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She was employed as a clerk at the former Bradlees Department Store in Pittsfield for 12 years, retiring in 1989. Previously, she had been employed as a secretary at GE in Pittsfield for several years. She enjoyed country music, camping and playing in the pitch league at the Polish Community Club. Besides her mother, of Dalton, she leaves her husband, James Durant, whom she married Feb. 28, 2000; a son, Richard Wilcox of Pittsfield; two daughters, Mary Ellen T. Richardson of Lanesboro and Julie A. Johnson of Pittsfield; four brothers, Charles J. Ellsworth and James E. Ellsworth, both of Pittsfield, Peter R. Ellsworth of New Jersey and William J. Ellsworth of Herndon, Va.; a sister, Susan M. Passmore of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. Services will be Friday at 2 at DERY FUNERAL HOME, Pittsfield, conducted by the Rev. R. Joseph LeVay, pastor of St. Patrick's Church in Hinsdale. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday prior to the service from 1 to 2 at the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Peggy was predeceased by a brother, Eugene P. Ellsworth, and a sister, Ellen T. Ellsworth. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice in care of the funeral home.
