Elvenia Johnson

Elvenia A. Johnson, 96, formerly of Billings Street, died Friday evening at Buckley Manor in Greenfield. She moved to Greenfield in 1985. Born in Lenox on March 22, 1905, daughter of William N. and Elvenia Mattoon Hinman, she attended schools there. She was employed for many years by GE in the power transformer department. While in Lanesboro, Mrs. Johnson was a communicant of St. Charles' Church. Her husband, Thomas W. Johnson Sr., whom she married Jan. 4, 1926, died March 28, 1985. She leaves a son, Thomas W. Johnson Jr. of Bernardston; a sister, Edna Miller of Wilbraham; six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 1 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at noon. Burial will follow at a later date in Fairmount Cemetery in Lee. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Association for the Blind in care of the funeral home.
