Mario P. Zerbato

Mario P. Zerbato, 72, of 165 Summer St. died Saturday at home. Born in Lee on March 14, 1929, son of Angelo and Adele Gairdi Zerbato, he attended local schools. He was employed by Kimberly-Clark Corp. for 35 years, retiring as a shift supervisor in 1983. Mr. Zerbato was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. A past president of the Babe Ruth League, he also coached youth baseball. He was a member of the S.P.I.N.C. union and participated in the "Our Town Follies," which benefited high school athletics and other worthy causes. He enjoyed Italian music and landscaping and was an avid Yankees and Giants fan. He also hosted the annual "Firecracker" Jarts competition for family and friends. He and his wife, the former Alice Malumphy, celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary May 20. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Robert E. Zerbato and Alan J. Zerbato, both of Lee, and David P. Zerbato of Pittsfield; two sisters, Beatrice Kelly of Lee and Mary Marzotto of West Stockbridge; three brothers, Guido Zerbato and Nello Zerbato, both of Lee, and Olindo Zerbato of Housatonic, and six grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be today from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. Friends wishing may make donations to the Shrine of Divine Mercy, to spread the Divine Message, in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, 01238.
