Joseph James Miele

Joseph James Miele, 88, of 2511 Canaan Southfield Road and East Canaan, Conn., died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Iselin, N.J., on June 12, 1917, son of John and Anna Speranza Miele, he was educated there. Mr. Miele was a horse dealer. He also owned and operated Evergreen Packing Co. in East Canaan. He and his wife, the former Marilyn Gleason, celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary April 19. Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Jennifer Miele of New Marlborough, Betsy Miele of the state of Florida and Lianee Nagy of Highland Park, N.J.; a son, Joseph Miele of the state of Florida; a sister, Grace Baran of Iselin, and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Service of Celebration for Joseph James Miele will be held Wednesday at noon at NEWKIRK-PALMER FUNERAL HOME, 118 Main St., North Canaan, CT 06018. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 10 to noon at the funeral home. Following the service, all are invited to the home of Roberta and David Colucci, Sandy Brook Road, Colebrook, CT 06021. Memorial donations may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice. He leaves his grandchildren, Monica Miele of New Marlborough, Robert Nagy of Somerset, N.J., and Richard Nagy of Highland Park, N.J. He came from a family of 10 brothers and sisters. He was predeceased by his sisters, Frances, Mary Anntoinette "Toots" and Rose, and his brothers, Tom, Emil, Anthony "Sonny" and Michael "Mike."
