Helen Theresa Kruzel

Helen Theresa Kruzel, 89, of 108 Wells Road died Sunday at North Adams Regional Hospital after suffering a heart attack at home. Born in Adams on April 24, 1916, daughter of Peter and Apolina Gawon Stec, she was educated in local schools. An assembler, Mrs. Kruzel was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for six years. From 1960 until retiring in 1981, she worked in the ordnance department at GE. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She and her husband, Matthew S. Kruzel, would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Nov. 20. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Robert P. Kruzel of Cheshire; a daughter, Nancy Chaput of Cheshire; a sister, Virginia Lancia of Cheshire; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Helen Theresa Kruzel, who died Sunday, Aug. 21, will be tomorrow, Aug. 24, at 8:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Cheshire, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will be today from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church or to the Cheshire Fire Department in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire, MA 01225. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Kruzel; five grandchildren, Jessica and Cameron Kruzel, and Jeffrey, Matthew and Samantha Chaput; and three great-grandchildren, Connor, Chandler and Abby. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Robert Chaput; her brother, Matthew Stec, and her sisters Olympia Gajda, Stacia Sikorski and Adella Starsiak. Her greatest love was spending time with her family.
