Rose A. Coyne

Rose A. Coyne, 100, of 47 Franklin St. died Saturday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Clarksburg on Jan. 1, 1905, daughter of Edward J. Curry and Anna Gilbert Curry Morin, she was a graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School and the former Bliss Business College. Mrs. Coyne was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and enjoyed spending summers at her cottage on Lake Ashmere in Hinsdale, reading, corresponding with friends and catalog shopping. Last winter, she celebrated her 100th birthday at Blackinton Manor with more than 50 relatives and friends. Her husband, former North Adams Police Chief William Francis Coyne, whom she married May 20, 1933, died Feb. 7, 1995. She leaves a son, Terrence E. Coyne of North Adams; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter. Another son, Dennis Michael Coyne, died in infancy. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Rose Coyne will be tomorrow, Aug. 30, at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERAL Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., followed by a funeral Mass at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Elder Services' Meals on Wheels Program in care of the funeral home. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Deborah Coyne, and two grandsons, Michael D. Coyne and his wife, Susannah Everett, and Daniel R. Coyne, and a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Everett Coyne. A sister, Mildred Rivers, died Jan. 1, 2005. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She spent this summer helping with the gardening and housework, eating meals on the deck overlooking the lake and cheering on her great-granddaughter, Rebecca, as she learned to swim.
