Kergan Davidson

Kergan J. "Scotty" Davidson, 73, of 47 Robert St. died Saturday at Providence Care Center in Lenox. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on Jan. 12, 1928, son of William and Meg Robson Davidson, he attended schools there. He served with the British Royal Navy prior to World War II and later graduated from the Edinburgh University Royal Botanic Garden Horticultural program. Mr. Davidson was employed by United Fruit Co. in Tela, Honduras, from 1949 until 1957, and was horticulturist-in-charge of Lancetilla Experimental (Plant) Research Station. He was a landscape gardener at Fox Hollow School for Girls in Lenox for 12 years and was superintendent of maintenance for six years, until the school closed in 1976. He was estate manager for James Hunter of Williamstown for six years, and was employed by state Sen. and Mrs. John Fitzpatrick from 1982 until retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Berkshire County Deputy Sheriff's Association and the Evening Star Lodge AF&AM of Lee. He leaves his wife, the former Gladys Richardson, whom he married Dec. 10, 1954; a son, Keith J. Davidson of South Egremont; a daughter, Maureen Gamselli of Lee; two sisters who live in Scotland and Australia; a granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service conducted by the Evening Star Lodge AF&AM of Lee will be held Saturday morning at 11 at the Masonic Temple on Laurel Street in Lee. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to Shriners Hospital in care of KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main St., Lee.
