Eleanor Kay

Eleanor Kay, 88, of 216 Oak St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Housatonic on July 29, 1917, daughter of Boleslaw and Eleanor Bubrzycki Siok, she was a 1934 graduate of the former Searles High School. Mrs. Kay was employed by the former Great Barrington Manufacturing Co. She was a communicant of All Saints Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality. She enjoyed cooking, flowers, traveling on tour buses around the country, playing cards, and dancing, and she took pride in her vegetable garden. She and her husband, Chester S. Kay, celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary May 24. They were married in 1941 at All Saints' Church. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, John Kay of Housatonic and Andrew Kay of Richmond, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Eleanor Kay, who died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, will be Monday, Sept. 26, at 9 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at All Saints Church, Housatonic, with the Rev. Anthony Jutt, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday, Sept. 25, from 2 to 5 at the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington. She leaves her grandchildren, Christopher, John, Denise and Andrew Kay Jr., and Kim Bailey, and great-grandchildren, Alex and Ethan Kay. She was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Siok, and a sister, Sadie Sadlowski. She treasured her many trips with her sister, Sadie, and cherished her visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
