David Sargent Pafenbach

David Sargent Pafenbach, 56, of 994 Shaw Road died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, after a short illness. Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 11, 1948, son of Fred and Phyllis Sargent Pafenbach, he was a 1948 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School. He was a member of First Congregational Church of Dalton. He was a veteran who served in the Air Force in Vietnam. Mr. Pafenbach was a machinist at Lander, Inc. in Pittsfield. Previously he worked as a papermaker at Crane & Company in Dalton for 25 years. He was also a supervisor at Schweitzer-Mauduit in Lee. He enjoyed trains, sail boating and his golden retrievers. Besides his parents, of Vero Beach, Fla., he leaves his wife, the former Patricia P. Walker, whom he married April 1, 1999 in Dalton; three daughters, Jennifer S. Lander and Carrie E. Aherne, both of Pittsfield, and Lisa L. Cyr, of Belchertown; two sisters, Jean C. Miller, of Topeka, Kan., and Caylah Nancy Duda, of Greenfield, and seven grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for David S. Pafenbach will be held Thursday at 1:30 at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 11:30 to 1:30. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family, in Shaw Cemetery. Following the memorial service, the celebration of David's life will continue at the Remington Lodge in West Cummington. All are cordially invited. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of Dery-Foley Funeral Home.
