Dina V. Chiaretto

Dina V. Chiaretto, 88, of 68 Dartmouth St. died Wednesday morning at home. Born in Genoa, Italy, on Dec. 25, 1912, daughter of Peter and Lena Baldascini Volonghe, she attended schools in New York City and graduated from high school there. She had been a resident of Pittsfield for the past 70 years. She was employed at GE for 10 years and was also an assistant chef at Mario's Restaurant in New Lebanon, N.Y., for 10 years. Her husband, Carl J. Chiaretto, well known political and labor activist, whom she married Oct. 5, 1940, died April 7, 2000. She leaves two sons, Carl A. Chiaretto of Medford and Terence J. Chiaretto of Pittsfield; a daughter, Dorine M. Galliher of Dalton; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 9, at 9:30 at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the Dwyer Funeral Home will be Saturday from 9 until the 9:30 service. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital in care of the funeral home. Following committal services in St. Joseph's Cemetery, family and friends will be received in the home of her son, Terence, at 134 Oak Hill Rd., Pittsfield.
