Amy J. Marino

Amy J. Marino, 90, of 61 Yale St. died yesterday morning at Williamstown Commons. Born in Bolton, England, on Dec. 9, 1914, daughter of Edward and Bertha Surr Shepherd, she moved to North Adams at the age of 6 and graduated from Drury High School. Mrs. Marino was employed as a library assistant at North Adams Public Library, retiring in 1981. She then became a poll worker for Ward 2. She also worked for several former area retail stores, including Webster's, W.T. Grant and Apothecary Hall, and for the former Arnold Print Works. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a former Woman of the Year, a Sunday school teacher, a member and past president of the Friendly Circle, and former chairman of the Pastor/Parish Relations Board. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women's Club and Naomi Chapter 17 Order of Eastern Star, where she was past worthy matron and grand representative of Massachusetts to North Carolina. Her husband, Vincent J. Marino, whom she married Aug. 24, 1939, died March 17, 1970. She leaves a son, Edward G. Marino of North Adams; two grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A daughter, Nancy J. Marino, died April 19, 1999. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral will be Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 from AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, followed by services at First United Methodist Church, North Adams, conducted by the Rev. Susan Stewart, pastor. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church or the North Adams Public Library Building Fund through the funeral home. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Karen, and grandchildren, Eric Marino and Lisa Marceau. She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Bard.
