Casey J. Norton

Casey J. Norton, 48, of Scotia, N.Y., a native of North Adams, died Saturday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, N.Y., after a short illness. Born on Aug. 4, 1957, son of James W. and Mary Martin Norton, he was a 1975 graduate of Hoosac Valley High School in Cheshire. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans and earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from Boston University. At the time of his death, Mr. Norton was associate vice president of marketing/planning for Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center. He was a member of the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce, the American Association of Medical Colleges and the American Heart Association. He was a board member for several organizations, including the Center for Economic Growth, Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation, the National Institute of Health's Mini-Medical School Advisory Council and Pfizer's Healthcare Strategy and Marketing Group. He was community-minded and supportive of his children's activities, including coaching in basketball. He and his wife, the former Teresa Gatta, were married Sept. 22, 1991, at St. Joseph's Church in Scotia. Besides his wife and parents, of Adams, he leaves two sons, Casey Robert Norton and Grant William Norton, both of Scotia. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Casey Norton will be Tuesday at 8:45 from GLENVILLE FUNERAL HOME, 9 Glenridge Road, East Glenville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 at St. Joseph's Church, First Street, Scotia. Interment to follow the funeral Mass on Tuesday at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenridge Road. Calling hours will be Monday, Oct. 24, from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Norton Family Children's Trust Fund to be established, Att: Michael DeMarco c/o Glenville Funeral Home. He was the son-in-law of Robert and Marianna Gatta of Scotia, and brother-in-law to Robert and Deidre Gatta of Slingerlands, N.Y., and Catherine Gatta of Scotia. Casey is survived by an uncle, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
