Louis L. Smith, 47

FLORIDA, Mass. — Louis Lester Smith, 47, of 219 Central Shaft Road died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, as the result of an automobile accident on Route 7 in Pownal, Vt. Born in North Adams on Nov. 12, 1953, son of David Addison and Dorothy L. Cimonetti Smith, he was educated in local schools. He had resided in Florida since 1971. He was first employed with the former R.J. Widen Co. tannery in North Adams and then with the former Rochester Paper Co., now Curtis Fine Papers, in Adams. He was last employed with Crane & Co. in Dalton. He was a longtime CB radio enthusiast and carried the handle "Mountain Man." He also enjoyed fishing. He leaves his wife, the former Diane Marie Poirot, whom he married Nov. 13, 1971, in the Florida Baptist Church; two daughters, Kristin Louise Smith, at home, and Tracy Lynn Duquette of the town of Florida; a sister, Donna Felix of North Adams; and a brother, Michael Craig Smith of North Adams. He was predeceased by his brother David Allen Smith on Oct. 7, 1992. FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mr. Smith will take place Friday, June 8, at 11 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Church Cemetery, Florida. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, June 7, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Memorial donations are suggested through the funeral home.
