Guy F. Drumm Jr.

Guy F. Drumm Jr., 86, of Lyman Street, Westborough, formerly of Great Barrington, died Tuesday afternoon at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Centers in Westborough. Born in Sharon, Conn., on March 3, 1919, son of Guy F. and Ethel Sherwood Drumm, he attended schools in Salisbury, Conn., and Great Barrington. He graduated in 1936 from the former Searles High School in Great Barrington. Mr. Drumm also attended the former Berkshire Business School in Pittsfield and Northeastern University. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served as a pilot from 1943 to 1946. In 1946, Mr. Drumm joined the former Southern Berkshire Power and Electric Co. (now part of National Grid) as a clerk. He was transferred to former New England Electric System's Boston headquarters in 1952. As a manager in 1964, he was instrumental in developing an accounting centralization at their new Westborough headquarters with a large computer installation. Following his retirement in 1978, he lived in Alford until 1995, when he moved to Great Barrington. In 1999, he returned to Westborough. He married his wife, the former Madelyn O'Brien, on Oct. 26, 1940. She died on Jan. 1, 1994. He leaves a daughter, Gail Martin of Westborough; a brother, Sherwood R. Drumm of Merced, Calif., three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Guy F. Drumm Jr. will be held Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at 11 a.m. at FINNERTY AND STEVENS Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles VanAusdall officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
