Rita May Ramsdell

Rita May Ramsdell, 68, of 120 West St. died Sunday evening at home. Born in Pittsfield on May 24, 1937, daughter of Raymond and Cecelia Guzzy Matteson, she was a 1955 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mrs. Ramsdell was employed as a transportation manager at BCAC, formerly Uncle John's Vans, and retired this year. She first worked at the former Tyco Variety Store as a clerk, and in 1970 she worked for Head Start as a lead van driver. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Cheshire. She was active in MADD, and was an avid pitch player. She and her husband, Richard Ramsdell, celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary Oct. 28. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Kevin Ramsdell and Kenneth Ramsdell, both of Pittsfield; a daughter, Juraye Pierson of Pittsfield; two sisters, Shirley Campana and Mary Rennie, both of Pittsfield, and five grandchildren. Another daughter, Mary Ann Ramsdell, died in 1961, and another son, Keith Ramsdell, died in 1979. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Rita May Ramsdell will take place Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, at 9 a.m. from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Mary's Church in Cheshire, celebrated by the Rev. David Raymond, pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be today, Tuesday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home. She was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Matteson, and a sister, Barbara Cusson. She leaves her grandchildren, Erika Ramsdell, Amanda Ramsdell, Allison Ramsdell, Jaryn Pierson and Rayelle Pierson.
