Timothy E. Soule

Timothy E. Soule, 66, of 169 North Plain Road died Sunday at home. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 29, 1938, son of John and Mary Sparks Soule, he was a 1957 graduate of Lee High School. He attended Cushing Academy for one year, where he was a scholarship athlete in football and baseball. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Soule was employed as a safety and workers compensation superintendent at Kimberly Clark Co., retiring in 1993 after 35 years of service. While employed there, he was the first recipient of its Distinguished Person Award in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Peter's Church. Active in local sports, he coached baseball for 15 years and football for seven years, and was an avid Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, photography and playing golf. He and his wife, the former Margaret Touponce, celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary July 30. They were married in 1960 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Lenox Dale. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Timothy Soule Jr. of Sutton and Steven Soule of Egremont; a daughter, Holly Hunter of West Stockbridge; a brother, John Soule of Pittsfield; a sister, Judy O'Connor of Pittsfield, and five grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Timothy E. Soule, who died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, will be Thursday, Nov. 17, at 9 a.m. from the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Peter's Church with the Rev. Shaun O'Connor, M.I.C., officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Housatonic. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy in Tim's memory, so that every child who wants to play baseball gets a chance to play, may be made to Great Barrington Little League for sign-up fee assistance in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. He also leaves his extended family members, two brothers, Lincoln Streeter of South Windsor, Conn., and John Streeter of Lee, and a sister, Rosalind Haywood of Lenox. He leaves his grandchildren, Owen and Emily Hunter, and Shannon, Matthew and Cailin Soule. He was predeceased by a brother, Francis. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
