John F. Hanson

John Franklin Hanson, 78, of 6 Main St. died Tuesday evening at Williamstown Commons in Williamstown. Born in Wellesley on Feb. 20, 1923, son of Winland and Grace Henderson Hanson, he attended schools there and was a 1941 graduate of Wellesley High School. Mr. Hanson began his career as a moldmaker at the GE apprentice program in Pittsfield. He then worked at Marland Mold for several years and helped start Lakewood Mold and TOG Mold, both in Pittsfield, where he worked for many years. He was also employed at the Precision Mold division of Mackenzie Plastics. After his retirement, he was a contributing member of the Berkshire Plastics Network, promoting the expertise of the tool and die industry in Berkshire County. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lenox where he sang in the choir. His wife, the former Celia I. Pupo, whom he married in 1950, died May 9, 1991. He leaves a son, John S. Hanson of Park Hall, Md.; two daughters, Deborah Hanson Greene of Annapolis, Md., and Susan M. Hanson of Lenox Dale; two brothers, Dana Hanson of Rocky Hill, Conn., and Myron Hanson of Yarmouth; a sister, Lillian Hanson Winternitz of New York City, and three grandchildren. The funeral will be Saturday, June 16, at 4 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Lenox, with the Rev. Steven Perry, pastor, and the Rev. Daniel B. Brunton, retired pastor of St. Ann's Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Lenox at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the church June 16, from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral.
